Only a short distance away from the main town and local pubs.
Very shabby, supposed to be refurbished rooms. Needs a lot doing to it.
Overall we had a very pleasant stay. The staff are friendly and very helpful - I was offered an umbrella as it was raining outside! The breakfast was pretty good, although too greasy for me, my boyfriend was happy with it. We were even offered champagne for breakfast - a nice touch if you were celebrating. We booked a premier double which had its good and bad points. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was very nicely refurbished, although there was a loose tile by the shower.
An attempt to modernise the room is spoilt by a very dated multi coloured duvet cover, poor quality carpet, some old furniture mixed with newer, and curtains that are difficult to open. I'd suggest a big improvement would be made by replacing the duvet with plain White for a much more modern clean look and a plain coloured throw. Theres clearly a desire to provide excellent customer service, the place just needs updating properly in places. I would only not recommend because of the decor. I think people expect good quality decor for the price and might be disappointed but I'd recommend for anyone who didn't want to pay more to go somewhere else and I'd recommend for service and location! I would have ticked yes and no if I had the choice.
Room needed a refurbishment. Beds were very hard. The bar/lounge furniture needs throwing out and replacing
Very tired hotel, disorganized breakfast,shabby decoration,road noise,no lift,expensive
It's in a good position for the city centre, easy to park, clean, friendly helpful staff and the breakfast was excellent.
Not really a complaint but I should have asked for a room at the back away from the noise of the main road when the window has to be open.
Location in relation to Catton Park for Equestrian events.
3 flights of stairs - no lift!!!!
The reason for staying at The Cathedral Lodge was to attend a concert at Lichfield Cathedral. It's closeness to The Cathedral makes it ideal.
The volume of the Television in the Bar made it difficult to hold a conversation. We would have stayed longer in the bar if it had been quieter or not on at all. An alternative would have been to turn the sound off and use the subtitles.
Lady at breakfast was very efficient and polite
Could have done with a good clean. For a double room, very pokey Not up to a quality hotel
There were a number of reasons for visiting the uk from New Zealand. 2 were in Lichfield. Appointment during the day was fine. Evening a disaster!!!!!. I was in my room all evening yet a vital message was not given the vital message I was waiting for until I checked out the next morning!!!! Message and telephone services didn't meet domestic nevermind international standards.
Comfortable hotel, offered evening meal but we didn't need it. Breakfast was good. Very convinient for city centre and had parking. Pleasant staff
Very close to Cathedral and centre. Good parking. Comfortable and clean. Staff on reception were excellent. Good breakfast.
Starting to look a little tired and dated - but this did not affect the comford of the hotel!
Very welcoming staff, arranged an early breakfast to accommodate an early checkout
"Upgraded" rooms are a bit frayed and tatty - curtains don't cover windows, ceramic floor tiles in bathroom have most of the grout missing - so walking in bathroom sounds horrible. Room overlooked main road so very noisy
Friendly atmosphere - welcoming and polite personnel. Good food. Comfortable and good value for money.
Only one observation is that the en suite bathrooms are small.
Relaxing, well appointed, eager and competent staff, good atmosphere
Staff......extreemely helpful and friendly
Curtains difficult to close, tiles loose on bathroom floor, bulb hanging from bathroom ceiling, bedside table broken, decor unfinised, double glazed windows fitted a while ago and job not completed, this was a premier room....hate to think what standerd rooms were like.holiday inn 2mile away..£40 Cheaper but didn't want to drive into lichfield, but will next time
